Reference on the Names of God

LORD/Yahweh/Jehovah/yhwh - Most English translations use the "LORD" form. Research the tetragrammaton for more information on this. When you see any of these in scripture (a translation will only pick one of them as they all represent the same thing), it represents the revealed name of God, given to Moses back at the burning bush. Just as the Messiah, the Son of God, is given a name, Yeshua, or Jesus, so is God the Father given a name, which speaks to Him both on a personal level with us as well as speaking about His eternal nature: The fact that He always was, He is, and He always will be.
